This week was one of the busiest, craziest weeks in my entire
mission. Me and Elder Egbert had so much going on and it was just so
sooo busy! I could not believe all the stuff we were expected to get
done, but some how we did it. I can not tell you how many times in my
mission this seems to happen. As missionaries, we are given a lot of
things to do, and a lot of times it seems like we will not be able to
do it! I always find my self asking when will we have time to do all
of this. But, some how we always seem to get it done! I really do
feel like this is a miracle in and of itself! Things just always seem
to work out and we always end up being able to accomplish the things
that we need to accomplish. But as I was thinking about this, laying
in my futon last night just WAY to tired, I just realized how happy I
was. I really just blows me away by how happy I am right now! We
work so hard, we are away from family and friends for two years,
getting rejected and denied by people all over the place, and I am
just sooo happy! We ran into a family from America yesterday after
church and they were members of the church and were just asking how we
were doing and what we needed. Me and Elder Egbert just kinda looked
at each other and said, "Nah I think we are good! We are just happy!"
I have come to realize that this is God's work, and it is a privilege
for us to be a part. As we do his work, he blesses us with the joy
that he feels when we help bring his children closer to him. Such a
blessing to be a missionary right now!
This week, one of the big things that was making us pretty busy was
we had Zone Meeting. We had the whole Zone together, and me and Elder
Egbert were supposed to train everyone! It was way too fun. It was
really busy and a little bit stressful planning everything out, but
the spirit definitely guided us as we planned and as we taught.
Something that we are really focusing on as a Zone, and as a Mission
is focusing less on the missionary, and focusing more on the
investigators. We are realizing that this is what helps us grow the
most as missionaries! President Hinckley once said, "Do you want to
be happy? Forget yourself and get lost in this great cause!" I think
that is 100% true. We always hear about how we need to forget
ourselves and that is when we will feel the joy, but I feel like we
just kinda brush that aside sometimes and continue to focus on
ourselves. But, I really have seen that as I have tried to focus only
on our investigators and on helping other people, I have felt the
happiest! Something else really cool we are focusing a lot on right
now in the mission is remembering that this is God's work, and not the
missionaries work. We sometimes think that we have to do everything
as missionaries, but that is not true! God is preparing his people,
and God is hastening his work, not the missionaries! What we can do
as missionaries and members of the church however is simply to work to
become an effective tool in his hands. Our new vision as a mission
is, "To be an instrument in God's hand, to save many souls, and to
strengthen Zion!" We can not hasten this work by ourselves, but the
good news is that we don't have to! God's hand is in this work, and
if we can become the tool in his hand that is when we see the
miracles!
Zone Meeting really was so fun, and it was awesome to have the whole
Zone together! We have a really awesome Zone, and it has been so much
fun to get to know everyone here! I think that is my favorite part of
being a Zone Leader so far, is just the awesome chance that we have to
get to meet lots of missionaries and make such great friends with
everyone! Our Zone is really close, and it's so much fun! Actually,
today after emailing we are going as a Zone to play soccer on the top
of that building! Remember that picture I sent to you of Shibuya with
the soccer field? Yeah...we are playing there! Pretty cool huh?!
That is actually one of my life dreams right there and I get to do it
today! So, if I can, I will send pictures later, but if not I will
just send them next week! Things here in Tokyo are just way too fun.
I love my companion, apartment, and the people we are working with
right now! Speaking of investigators, we have two amazing guys, T____
and W____, who might potentially getting baptized this Sunday! We
are working really hard with them to see them baptized this week, so
PLEASE pray for them to have the faith and courage to be baptized! I
seriously love these two so much. They are such amazing people and if
they can get baptized they will be so happy! So, we are saying lots
of prayers and working really hard!
I am out of time today, but I am so grateful for you all! I know
that this church is true. I can't deny it! There is just no way that
it isn't. I have received that answer so strongly through the Spirit,
and I promise that if you ever question anything about the church, God
will answer you if you just ask him. I love you all so much and I
hope you all have an amazing week! I pray for you all daily and think
about you all the time! Talk to you soon!
Love,
Logan
