Week 50! Tim Tam Slam!!

Hello Everyone!

I don't have tons of time today, but I definitely have time to talk
about the amazing miracle that happened this week! We were finally
able to baptize T_____! He has been so prepared for so long and we were
able to get his mothers permission, baptize him, and confirm him all
before he left to America this last Saturday! It was busy, and really
crazy, but we were able to do it and every thing really just worked so
smoothly.  T_____ asked if I would baptize him, and it really was such
an amazing opportunity! We had a great program with some really good
speakers and then we went up and did it. I am not sure if I have
talked about Shibuya's font, but it is pretty amazing. We went up
there and the baptism went perfect. When he came back out of the water
he just turned to me glowing and I gave him a huge hug and he was just
so happy. Things went perfect and it was just an amazing day.

The reason that my subject is tism tam slam is because after every
baptism you have to slam some Tim tams. I don't know if I have ever
explained this, but there are some cookies that are actually from
Australia, but they are really good but you bite a little piece off
each side, and use them as a straw to drink hot chocolate. But because
they are a chocolate cookie thing, they melt while you drink the hot
chocolate so you hurry and kinda slurp them up haha. It must sound
really weird, but it is really good and because we had 8 missionaries
staying in Shibuya because of the conference the next day, we did it
with eight missionaries and it was just way too much fun. Nothing like
a tism tam slam. We will have to do it someday;)

The best part about the whole night though was that the next day when
we woke up, we had a message from T_____ from the previous night but we
were in bed and he basically just told us that it had been the best
day of his life and that he was so happy and so excited to be a
member. That is what it is all about. It made me so happy to hear that
from him and hear that he is excited to continue to be a great member
of the church. I am so excited for him to be in California and to grow
and continue to learn there. It is going to be so good for him!

The other amazing this about this week was the elder cook conference.
That was amazing. You can just feel the power they have when they
talk, and feel the amazing spirit they bring into a meeting. It was
such a blessing to hear from him and learn from him. I know that he is
a man of god and that he is a special witness of Jesus Christ.

I love you all! I hope things are all going well and that you are
enjoying life! It is a beautiful time to be alive haha. I hope you all
know how grateful I am for you, and how much I love and pray for each
and everyone of you! I will talk to you soon!

Week 49! Where to begin? 何処で始めるでしょ?

Can I just say how amazing it was to talk with my family this last
week?  I was so happy to get to see them, and see that they are all
doing so well!  It is great being able to email every week, but there
definitely is something special about getting to see ya'll face to
face and just get to talk! It really was amazing and it is such a
blessing to be able to skype!  The call went great it only cut out
once, and it was just perfect.  I have a beautiful family!:) I am way
too blessed to get to call you all my family.  Thank you for your
amazing support to me while I have been out here, and thank you for
being such amazing examples for me.  I can not tell you enough how
much it means to me, and how you all make me a better missionary!  I
love you!

So honestly, I really don't even know where to begin this week!  One
of the most amazing miracles that has happened on my entire mission
happened this week, and I really am just so grateful that we have The
Lord on our team in this work.  He is the one who is hastening his
work, and we just get to help out!

As you have heard before, I have been talking a lot about T____ and
how he is really close to being baptized.  However, he has been
lacking in getting permission from his mother, so things have just
kind of been on hold with him which has been really hard!  But, this
week something amazing happened.  Last week I sent the picture home of
the chinese night, I think...But we had a huge chinese night and
T____'s mom is chinese, so we invited her!  She came and had an amazing
time and that was kind of that.  However, we really have been getting
worried because T____was supposed to be moving to America soon for
school, and we wanted him to be baptized before than!  This week, on
Friday, I was actually on splits in a city called Senzokuike about 45
minutes from Shibuya, but Elder Egbert got a call from T____'s mom!
She asked if he was with T____ and he said he wasn't, and then she said
that she had been thinking a lot about T_____because he is leaving soon
and she is getting nervous for him to go to America.  She said she
just kinda kept thinking about Christianity and that thought wouldn't
really leave her mind(we had talked to her about T____being baptized
and things but she thought he was just too young). So, she decided to
call her family in China about it.  She gave them a call, and they all
said amazing things about Christianity, and that all christians were
just great people, and they all told her that they really thought it
would bless T____'s life.  So, she told Elder Egbert that she wants
T____ to be baptized!!!

This is where it gets crazy though, because after wards we talk to
T____and he is way excited, but then we learned from his mom that he
is leaving this Saturday for America! So we decided that he would get
baptized on Friday, and get the Holy Ghost the same day and then we
will send him to America the next day!  The timing for these miracles
literally could not have been any better.  We have been working really
closely with the ward and we are going to be able to do it this Friday
and it is going to be amazing!  The best part though is that we looked
up where he is going to be living in California, and it is literally a
5 minute walk from the LA temple, and a church that is right next to
it!  We are going to contact the missionaries there, and just have
them really help T____ be able to grow like crazy over there!  This
whole week with him has just been amazing, and he is so ready to be
baptized.  He is going to go to America and just get so strong in the
gospel its amazing.  Also, in September he is going to move up to Utah
and go to Snow college possibly!  I told him he is going to have to go
visit my family for me and he said he would love that!  So be ready to
meet T____! :) he is a great kid and by then he will be amazing in
English so it won't be a worry haha.

Today we also had the chance to go to the temple and that is always
amazing!  I love the temple so much and the spirit that is there!  It
is great to have the chance here in this mission to be able to go to
the temple!  It is a huge blessing.  It is always way too much fun to
meet with all the missionaries that come in and just get to say hello
to everyone!  It really is just the best I love it.  Something else
that was really amazing this week was at church we actually had a
member of the seventy come and speak!  It was Elder Gay, and he gave
an incredibly powerful talk about the reality of the savior and you
could just feel the spirit so strongly.  It isn't every day in Shibuya
that you have a member of the first quorum of the seventy speak in
your sacrament meeting;)  haha something really exciting is this
Saturday we are actually going to have Elder Cook come and speak to us
in a 2 mission conference!  It is going to be amazing and we are
really excited to learn from a member of the quorum of the twelve
apostles!

This week, I really just realized how blessed I am to just be a small
part of all of this.  This is an amazing work that is happening, and
we are way too blessed to get to take part in helping The Lord prune
his vineyard.  I know this is his work.  I know for myself that he is
hastening his work.  I see it every day here as a missionary.  He does
work through us as missionaries, and through small and simple things,
but he does work.  I feel so blessed to be a part of this mission, and
blessed to be serving where I am serving, and with the missionaries I
am serving with!  I know that as we continue to just try and give The
Lord all we have, he will make up the rest.

I love you all so much!  Please have an amazing week!  If you can,
please just continue to pray for T____ and that all will go well with
him!  I know that prayer works, and I am so grateful for you all
praying for us here in Tokyo!  Talk to you soon!

Week 49!

So no big email came this week, but Jeff got honored with a quick letter, so I will post that!

Hey dad!
I would absolutely love to see pictures of this thing with the bike. It sounds really
impressive! I am excited to see and yes I will be looking around Tokyo
for cool stickers and will send any I find! The bike shop should have
some cool stuff he can put on there, and you might even be able to
just order like a company sticker like diamond back or trek,
specialized or any of those to make it look really professional! But I
think that is awesome! I have really come to love biking out here, and
am wondering if I might just get a road bike for school...we will see
haha.

Way cool about stake conference. It amazes me how much some of these
people put into those talks and meetings. Lots of revelation it is
really cool. I am super excited right now because we have our Elder
Cook conference this weekend! I have been studying up a lot and really
trying to prepare spiritually for it, and I am really excited to see
what he has for us all. It should be a pretty amazing day! I will let
you know how it was next week!

Ah sorry dad I just totally ran out of time. I love you so much! Just
know how much your emails empower me and help me! Thank you! I will
talk to you soon!

Week 47! おはよう!

Hey everyone!

Unfortunately like always I don't have tons of time, but I can do this
today!  This week was really just full of amazing miracles and it
really was just a super good week to be a missionary!  The weather
right now in Tokyo is just amazing!  It is officially time to start
breaking out the short sleeves and I am way excited!  It is the best
time in the year weather wise right now because it is super warm, but
not humid yet.  So we are enjoying it!  This week we did a lot of
different things, but I want to try and tell you some of the awesome
miracles that happened!

The first thing happened all the way at the beginning of last week.  We have
been meeting with T_____a lot lately and he is really close to being
baptized, but he still needs his mom's permission.  So, this week we
were just thinking of what to do, and we had the thought to try and
visit them.  Normally his mom doesn't get home until after 9, so we
haven't had the chance to visit her ever, but that night we just felt
like we should try riding over there and just knock and see.  We
headed over on the bikes, and knocked on the door.  We waited there
for a second, and then a little head popped out the window by the door
and just said はいちよと待って!(oh just wait one minute) so we waited and then
before we knew it his mom came out and just started talking to us!
She is such a nice lady!  we talked for a few minutes and she just
kept telling us thank for what we were teaching T____and she thought
it was really good and all these amazing things!  After a little bit
we told her we had to leave but that we would love to come back and
visit again and she said that we were welcome anytime!  It was an
amazing miracle because she now is just really open to us and knows
what we are doing!

So after that happened, yesterday when T____ didn't come to church we
wanted to go tell him we missed him, but when we knocked his mom came
to the door again!  We talked and T____ had left with some friends, but
we talked a little bit about church, and we are meeting her today!  We
are hopefully going to help her see that if T_____is baptized that will
really bless his life and that she too can have that blessing!  I
really feel like she has just been so prepared, and I really hope that
today goes well!  That was just one awesome miracle that we were able
to see today!

The work is going really well right now.  Elder Egbert and I are
really working well together, and are really working with a lot of
urgency for the work!  This last week we were really able to see how
when we are urgent about the work, we are able to see miracles that we
wouldn't be able to see if we weren't doing those things!  We were
working really hard all week this last week, and we were able to see
some amazing miracles.  I am excited to see what happens this week!

Something cool I don't know if you know this or not but on the 24th of
this month, Elder Cook from the Quorum of the twelve and Elder Maines
from the Presidency of the Seventy are coming to do a 2 mission
conference with us an the South Mission!  We are so excited to have
the chance to learn from an apostle!  We have been preparing a lot as
a mission, and are really excited to see what kind of revelation we
will be taught.  It is an amazing experience to be a missionary and
have experiences like this!  We will let you know how that goes!

I hope you all know how much I love you!  But also I hope you all know
how grateful I am to be a missionary.  It is such a blessing to see
peoples lives change as we teach them about Christ and about the
Atonement and how as they grow closer to them they just feel so much
happiness and peace.  I am so grateful for the Atonement in my life!
It helps me every single day, and it gives so much power to us because
we are so far from perfect.  I hope everyone has an amazing week, and
I will talk to you all soon!

Love
